So...I was driving by the Cornelius Fire Department today and saw how beautiful the building looked with the sun setting behind it. I had my camera with me so I parked across the street and went to take a picture when I realized the sun was still too high to not get a serious glare in the lens. Soooooooooo I skittered my way across the street and stood on their main driveway where I was shaded by the building and could get a couple shots quick before I got in trouble! As I was clicking away the door to the office opens and like 5 of them poured out the door and said "what are you doing?!" Totally deer in the headlights I was like "ummmmm, I'm a photographer and taking some shots around Cornelius..." (or something like that.) Apparently I dazzled them with my charm (not) and they were happy to let me take photos INSIDE the garage of the trucks! It was great chatting with them as I took photos of the trucks and their gear that sits on the ground awaiting an emergency. One of the photos shows a truck of theirs that slid on ice this past winter and flipped! They showed me the photo of the accident and it was insane to see that massive of a truck UPSIDE DOWN! Anyway, it was really nice of them to be so cool about me taking pictures off their station!
